MATHEMATICS AT ST PAUL’S

At St Paul’s, our Mathematics Program starts with your child.  We know our students and their strengths and challenges and ensure that classroom activities focus on developing and extending the mathematical capabilities of all our learners.  We use a range of ongoing assessment tools to identify what students know and plan the next steps for their learning.

The Victorian Curriculum version 2.0 provides the overview of learning outcomes at each year level.  The teachers use this curriculum to plan and sequence learning experiences appropriate for their classes.

Children develop skills and knowledge in the content strands of:

  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Measurement
  • Space
  • Statistics
  • Probability (Years 3-6)

St Paul’s uses the Ochre Daily Review lessons and resources in Mathematics.

We use checks for understanding and differentiated teaching to meet the individual learning needs of our students. Our Maths lessons are also supported through the use of chromebooks and learning software as well as hands on manipulatives to support the range of experiences and activities.

At St Paul’s, there are a range of school-based programs to further support students who require extra assistance in Mathematics.  Maths Intervention provides support for students Prep-Year 6. Modified Maths reports are also provided for students at any level who require major adjustments.
